Busted: A mini gun factory in Hazaribag

Hazaribag: Acting on a tip-off, Hazaribag police busted a mini-gun factory from a residential building in Seventh Mile under Bishnugarh police station on Saturday and arrested seven persons from the spot. Police also recovered several semi-manufactured arms and other paraphernalia related to it.

“It’s a major breakthrough,” remarked Hazaribag SP Manoj Ratan Chothe confirming the success. “I think, such illegal gun factory was unearthed after a long gap from Hazaribag. We are probe further into the case but prima facie it seems the links to its illegal factory was not just spread here but also in adjoining Bihar. All the arrested persons are being sent to judicial remand,” he added.

The recoveries include pistols (52), lathe machine for making guns (1), drilling machine (1), semi-built pistols (39), generator (1), bikes (2), mobile phones (7) among others.

All those arrested were in the age group of 25 to 52 and were identified as Md Akthar, Md Shamim Akthar, Md Mustaq, Md Imran, Sonu Alam, Md Naseem and Md Imran. “Some are from Bokaro and rest from Bihar,” said SP.
