Godda: Pond turns watery grave for 3 minors

Godda: Three minors including two siblings died drowned in a pond in Kerwar Paraspani village under Pathargama police station in Jharkhand’s Godda district sending a pall of gloom in the hamlet which was gearing up to usher in Durga puja revelry.

During the time of the incident, parents of the deceased had gone to a local market for puja shopping when three kids decided to visit the local pond for taking bath. However, they got sucked into the water, unaware of its depth, soon after they ventured into it.

The kids were identified as Khushi (10) and Harsh Kumar (8), children of Mukesh Kumar Mahto while another deceased Nayan Kumari (9) was the daughter of one Kamdeo Mahto. “The incident occurred around 12.30pm,” said one of the relatives of the victim.

Several MLAs took to twitter to express shock and grief over the incident as the news broke. State tribal welfare department minister and Seraikela MLA Champai Soren in a tweet asked Godda district administration to send a team to visit bereaved family and extend all possible support to them. Jama MLA Sita Soren and Mahagama lawmaker Deepika Pandey too expressed their condolences.
