Jamshedpur: Broad daylight loot rocks steel city

Jamshedpur: In a daring loot in broad daylight, unidentified bike borne criminals snatched around Rs 32 lakh from staffs of a prominent jewelry shop on Monday morning in busy Bistupur market area sending shockwaves among business community in the steel city raising question mark over law and order in the city.

According to information, two staffs of Chhaganlal Dayaljee and Sons were on way to the bank to deposit the money when they were attacked by criminals with guns near the Canara Bank at 11 am. The duo fell on the ground after being attack after which criminals raced on their bike snatching the cash stuffed bank, said an eye witness.

Soon after the incident, senior SP M Tamil Vanan rushed to the spot to take stock of the situation. “We have started the probe and are fetching CCTV footage from the area to zero-in on the criminals,” he said. Trading community however criticized local administration for poor law and order. A representative of Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce and Industry said, “Such broad daylight loot is worrying for all of us. There has been a spurt in such incidents of lawlessness in the city but the administration has failed to instil confidence among people of their safety.”
