Ranchi: Alleging police apathy, rape victim writes to CM seeking permission to end her life
Ranchi: A 37 year old rape victim from Pithoria in Ranchi has urged chief minister Hemant Soren seeking permission to end her life accusing police of inaction and trying to save the accused. In a letter to Soren on Tuesday, the victim said that she had lodged a report in Pithoria police station against seven persons on February 5 but till date police hasn’t arrested anyone.
“Rather, police is trying to save the accused through various means,” she alleged, adding that police is even trying hard to remove names of all the victims named by her in her report from the FIR. “Since, I being a victim of rape, and other forms of abuse by these people, and that I am not getting justice, I urge you to allow me to end my life as I am undergoing lots of mental trauma,” she rued.
She also informed in her letter that some of the accused had applied for anticipatory bail in high court after filing of the FIR by her but the matter is subjudice till date. “Even then, police aren’t keen in arresting the accused,” she said in the letter, a copy of which has also reached thenewsfile.com.
Sharing her ordeal, she said that the main accused Safdar Sultan alia Sadam had developed physical relationship forcefully initially on the pretext of marrying her. “He also abused me many time by taking me to hotels in Ranchi and Jamshedpur. Thereafter, he along with his other accomplices too abused me,” she claimed.
