Diwali: Fireworks allowed only for two hours in state
Ranchi: On Diwali, people can bust crackers only between 8pm to 10pm. Jharkhand government also announced curbs on fireworks for subsequent festival in coming months. As per the order issued by Jharkhand State Pollution Control Board (JSPCB), crackers will be allowed during Chhath puja also for two hours only between 6am-8am while on X-mass and New Year eve, it is allowed from 11.55pm to 12.30am. The board also stated that crackers beyond 125 decibel be sold or used.
JSPCB member secretary Y.K.Das in his order to all the districts stated that anyone found violation will be booked under section 188 of IPC and relevant provisions of Air pollution act, 1987. The state pollution watchdog maintained that the decision to impose curbs on busting of crackers in view of the National Green Tribunal’s order in last year.
Notably, Hemant Soren government on Friday announced easing of covid-19 induced lockdown by allowing celebration and conduct of all upcoming festivals, lifted Sunday lockdown and removed all kinds of curbs in operation of markets. Since July this year amid the second wave of covid pandemic, markets were allowed to only run till 8pm and on Sundays, except essentials, all remained closed.
State disaster management department minister Banna Gupta while announcing the relaxations had appealed people to continue maintaining covid appropriate behavior to prevent further spike in covid cases in Jharkhand.
