Ranchi: Two days special vax camps at Chhath ghats in capital

Ranchi: Ranchi district administration has announced to hold special vaccination camps at all Chhath ghats on Wednesday and Thursday (November 10 and 11) as part of its efforts to boost covid-19 vaccination coverage as well as an attempt to prevent further spurt of infections. The four day Chhath festivities began from Monday with nahaya-Khay ritual, while kharna (special fest) was held on Tuesday among Chhath devotees across Jharkhand.

During the next two days will Chhath vratis will offer evening and morning arghya (prayer to sun) at river banks, and ponds. While the district administration has readied elaborate plans for ensure peaceful festivities and crowd management at the ghats, it is also gearing up for running vaccination camps at all crowd puller venues during the festivities.

Deputy commissioner Chhavi Ranjan said that people awaiting their first or second dose can get their jabs at the camps. “All that one needs to carry is their Aadhaar card. Their registration will be done on the spot to provide the vaccine,” said Ranjan appealing people to comply with the government prescribed protocols during the festival.

On the other hand, district administration has also pressed national disaster response force (NDRF) at key water bodies such as Dhurwa, and Kanke dams to incidents of drowning. “At other ghats, arrangement of local divers are being made by the Chhath organizing samitis,” informed an official.

City SP Saurav informed that roughly around 2000 police personnel will be deployed for law and order duty in the city over the next two days. The traffic department too has banned entry of heavy vehicles in the city 8 am to 11pm on Wednesday and from 2am to 10pm on Thursday to prevent road mishaps amid the surge of crowd on the streets.
