Chhath: How who’s who of Jharkhand celebrated the festival
Ranchi: Sea of faith ran through the state as thousands of devotees dipped in festive spirit thronged to various water bodies across Jharkhand to offer prayers to the setting sun (evening arghya) on Wednesday on the occasion of Chhath festival. All big and small dam and river banks in Ranchi donned a colourful spectacle as devotees, attired in traditional attire performed the ritual.
Both commoners and VIPs were equally immersed in the festive and religious fervor this year as state government lifted its covid-19 induced restrictions compared to last here.
While the state finance minister Rameshwar Oraon was present in Doranda to offer his obeisance to sun god, Mahagama MLA Deepika Pandey Singh performed the rituals at her native place.
BJP state president cum Rajya Sabha MP Deepak Prakash did Chhath at his home in Ranchi with family, another MP Sanjay Seth visited Distillery pond and other sites to extend his greetings. Former chief minister and BJP’s Dhanwar MLA Babulal Marandi attended the proceedings in his constituency.
On Thursday, devotees will offer morning arghya (rising sun) to mark culmination of the four day long festivity.
