Two-day state mourning over demise of Lata Mangeshkar

Ranchi: Jharkhand government has announced two-day mourning over demise of India’s Nightingale and legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar, who breathed her last the age of 92 at a hospital in Mumbai on Sunday morning. A pall of gloom descended across crores of her fans and beyond the boundaries.

During this period, all kinds of state sponsored programmes will remain cancelled today and tomorrow and tricolour will be kept at half mast. Government of India too had in the morning announced two-day mourning.In Jharkhand too, several leaders, artistes as well as commoners condoned the death taking to social media since morning.

Sharing her photo on twitter, chief minister Hemant Soren wrote: “Bharat Ratna’s demise has shaken me and scores of her fans across the globe. It is a huge loss to India and its people. Today, everyone is with moist eyes. Her voice will continue to be her identity for eternity.”

State finance minister Rameshwar Oraon said that he grew up listening to her songs and still sound refreshing and evergreen. “One may forget country’s PM or president’s name, but not Lataji. That explains her position in every Indian’s hearts,” he said.

Ex-CM Raghubar Das too issued a video message thanking her for entertaining her fans across decades with her voice which will continue to inspire and regal several others in generations to come.
