Babulal: Marandi hits out at state government over ‘violation’ of court order
Ranchi: BJP’s leader of opposition Babulal Marandi came down heavily on Hemant Soren government accusing it of violation of court order issued last month for filing FIRs against Ranchi’s city SP Saurav and two other police officials besides CM’s political representative Pankaj Mishra in connection in violation of SC/ST act. The court issued the directives on November 26 but till date no FIR has been filed against anyone, alleged Marandi.
Addressing a press conference at party office this afternoon, Marandi said, “A special court directed police and state government to file FIR against Pramod Mishra (DSP Sahibganj), CM’s political representative in Barhet, Pankaj Mishra, Ranchi city SP Saurav and SC/ST police station in-charge (Radhika) based on a complaint filed by deceased female police officer of Sahibganj, Rupa Tirkey’s mother. Such is the lawlessness in the state that Soren government doesn’t even care court directives. 10 days have passed but to my information, no FIR has been filed yet.”
Notably, Rupa Tirkey, who was posted as officer-in-charge of Mahila police station in Sahibganj died in mysterious circumstances in May this year. She was found hanging in her quarter. While state police formed an SIT and later transferred the case to CID but her family wanted CBI probe. Many tribal bodies including opposition BJP too pressed for CBI probe claiming that Rupa’s death was unnatural and that many high profile people close to government were involved in her murder.
While state government initially denied CBI probe, but it transferred the case after Jharkhand high court’s order. CBI is currently probing the case, but last month Rupa’s mother again knocked court seeking action against Pramod, Pankaj, and city SP and officer-in-charge of Ranchi’s SC/ST police station citing how her plea to lodge FIR against Pramod and Pankaj were turned down. Rupa’s mother accused Pramod and others of attempt character assassination of her daughter even after her death.
Marandi said, “The audio tapes of DSP (Pramod) on the way he was speaking against the deceased had gone viral. It was deliberate attempt by him and others to project the tribal officer in bad light. Such officials who speak bad about women, tribal specially about the death doesn’t deserve to be in service.”
