Coal India chairman reviews CCL, directs to ensure uninterrupted supply of coal to power plants

Ranchi: Coal India chairman Pramod Agrawal on Saturday held a review meeting at CCL headquarters in Ranchi to brainstorm of ways to increase supply of coal to the power plants in the country. CMD, CCL P M Prasad, CMD, CMPDIL Manoj Kumar, Director (Pers) P V K R Mallikarjuna Rao among others were present at the meeting which was held through hybrid mode.

While reviewing the performance of CCL, Agrawal issued necessary instructions to increase the production in remaining period of ongoing fiscal year 2021-22. Agrawal expressed confidence that CCL will attain the desired target of the current fiscal and asked GMs to meet their targets of respective areas. He also asked the management of CCL to ensure uninterrupted supply of coal to the power plants. CCL CMD briefed him on the performance and related issues.  

Jharkhand based subsidiary of CIL- CCL is carrying out mining activities in eight districts of Jharkhand and meeting the energy the nation. Mining sector contributes around 2% to India’s GDP. The sector directly and indirectly employs over 1 crore people and sustains the livelihood of about 5.5 crore people in the country. One percent growth in mining results in an increase of up to 1.5% growth of industrial production and 1 direct job in the sector creates 10 indirect jobs.
