Covid: Jharkhand to launch month-long special vax camps from Thursday
Ranchi: State health department will rollout a month long special vaccination drive title covid-teeka mahaabhiyaan (mega vaccination) in all 24 districts from Thursday (tomorrow) to pace up covid-19 vaccination setting a target to achieve 100 percent coverage by January next year. The campaign will be held till January 15 for which additional health secretary of the health department Arun Kumar Singh sent detailed guidelines to all the districts.
The special drive is in tune with chief minister Hemant Soren’s directive to achieve 100% vaccination in the state in the wake of Omicron threat by January 20, said sources. Jharkhand’s vaccination coverage so far has been 70 percent for first dose and dismal 38 percent for second out of total 2.64 crore eligible beneficiaries, as per the covid vaccination bulletin of the health department.
Singh said that all the districts have been asked to prepare micro level plans to ensure proper compliance through various innovative ways besides the guidelines issued by the state government.
He has also asked all the districts to classify blocks, panchayats and villages with different colour codes based on their vaccination coverage for better monitoring on daily basis. “For example, places with less than 50 percent coverage will be in red code, those with 90 plus coverage will be dark green,” read the letter.
Districts are also directed to press mobile vaccination teams to target every eligible beneficiary and also track the number of migrant persons who got the doses. “To create awareness and other activities, districts can rope in sahiyas, panchayat sewaks, teachers, social workers, NGOs among others,” he said.
State has also directed all districts to set up call centre at block levels for making daily calls to those who are awaiting vaccine.
Simultaneously, the health department has also asked all the districts to set up call centres to motivate eligible population for vaccination by directly calling them on daily basis. For state level monitoring, the department has assigned six senior officials including IAS who will take care of four to five districts individually.
To instill competition, the best performing district, block, panchayats have been announced to be felicitated. “Block wise weekly achievement in percentage shall be evaluated and accordingly awarded with Certificate of Appreciation. The block earning the maximum marks after the completion of campaign shall be rewarded at the state level. Deputy Commissioners who complete 100% Vaccination ahead of others, shall be felicitated at the state level based upon their date of achieving such feat,” Singh noted.
