Covid: Second minister in Jharkhand government tests +ve

Ranchi: State water resources minister and Garhwa MLA, Mithilesh Kumar Thakur on Monday tested positive for covid-19, making it as the second minister in the Hemant Soren government to have contacted the virus in last three days.

Thakur said that he has home isolated himself and the symptoms are mild in nature. He has asked all those who came in contact with him recently to get themselves tested as precaution.

On Friday, health minister Banna Gupta tested positive for covid-19. He is recovering well and is in home isolation at his residence in Jamshedpur.

Both Thakur and Gupta tested positive for the second time since the outbreak of the virus in March, 2020.

On Saturday, chief minister Hemant Soren’s wife, Kalpana, their two kids and over one and half dozen staff tested positive for the virus. Chief minister however has tested negative.

On the other hand, there is no respite in covid-19 cases in the state as it continues to record four digit spurt daily. On Sunday night, state reported 3444 new cases of infection and six deaths. State’s current active cases are over 23000.
