Fodder scam: Lalu convicted in fifth case too

Ranchi: Former Bihar CM and RJD supremo Lalu Prasad will on Tuesday be forwarded to central jail in Ranchi after his conviction in connection to fodder scam case pertaining to illegal withdrawal of around Rs 139 crore. Of all the five cases of different treasury in the state in connection to fodder scam, this was the last case in which trial was pending.

Court of S K Sashi today held Lalu and 74 others guilty of the crime while remaining of the total 99 accused in the case were acquitted.

The fraud was committed during 1995-96 when Lalu was CM. In all other cases, Lalu had been convicted and is facing jail term, but is currently out on bail citing health grounds.
