In Jamshedpur, unvaccinated teens will be barred to enter schools post Jan 23

Jamshedpur: East Singbhum district administration has announced that students between 15-17 years age group and unvaccinated will not be allowed to enter their schools once they reopen after end of the covid induced lockdown. The district administration has also directed all the schools and their in-charges to ensure cent percent vaccination of all the eligible students by January 23 failing which they will begin crackdown on erring officials.

Sandeep Kumar Meena, sub divisional magistrate (SDM) of Dhalbhum, who is the district vaccination cell in-charge, held meetings with all the school representatives and district education officials to take stock of the progress of the vaccination of teenagers during he sounded the diktat.

East Singhbhum district has an estimated target of 1.70 lakh people in the age group of 15-17. But since start of the vaccination drive for this age group on January 3, only 67000 have taken their first dose so far.

“We have set a target of fully covering the estimated population by January 23 for which all schools have been assigned their responsibility, failing which action will be taken against the people responsible for the laxity. And also unvaccinated students won’t be allowed to enter their school premises as and when it reopens,” he said in a statement.

All educational institutions are currently closed in Jharkhand in the wake of covid-19 pandemic. On Saturday, state government has extended the partial lockdown till January 31 during which besides schools, tourist spots, gyms, and parks will remain shut and markets, except those which are permitted will, close down by 8 pm.
