JAC: Jharkhand board exams to start from this date

Ranchi: The Jharkhand Academic Council has begun ground works for conducting this year’s matriculation and intermediate exam from March end after state government has asked the examination conducting body in this regard. The exams will be held in offline mode with the third wave of covid-19 on wane in the state.

JAC sources said that in all likelihood, matric and intermediate exams will begin from March 25 but formal announcement is awaited.

On Thursday, JAC chairman Anil Kumar Mahto also met with education minister Jagarnnath Mahto at the latter’s residence on Doranda to brief him about their preparations and other modalities for taking the exams. After the meeting, JAC chairman said, “We are trying to take exams from four week of March.”

Schools of all classes have been reopened in Jharkhand recently except in seven districts including Ranchi, Bokaro and East Singbhum. In seven districts, state has only allowed class 9 and above to resume in offline mode.

Minister Mahto on the other hand said that schools for lower classes in remaining seven districts will be opened shortly. “I have asked for reports from all the seven districts and will soon announce their reopening,” he said.
