Jharkhand: CM orders restoration of train ops and stoppages like pre-covid times

Ranchi: Chief minister Hemant Soren on Tuesday ordered the state transport department to coordinate with the railways to resume regular operation of trains and their stoppages in order to facilitate proper movement for passengers. Soren added that resumption of proper train services will also help in restoration of economic activities.

Due to outbreak of covid-19 and national wide lockdown, railways halted or altered train movements and stoppages in the state and elsewhere in the country. Jharkhand government too had in the past asked the railways to minimize trains coming into the state to curb covid-19 cases. But with the pandemic on the wane currently in the state, government is in favour of restoration of train movements like pre-covid times.

An official in the state transport department said that soon they will sent letters to the railways in this regard requesting to increase train movements and restore trains which were withdrawn or halted due to covid-19.
