Jharkhand: Coming soon, bungalows for cabinet ministers in Ranchi

Ranchi: Jharkhand government on Thursday approved around Rs 69 crore funds for construction of new bungalows for all its 11 cabinet ministers in Ranchi Smart City. It also gave its nod for initial investment of Rs 27.42 crore for setting up of world trade centre in the same area. Chief minister Hemant Soren led cabinet held a meeting at Project Building in the evening in which a total of 17 proposals were approved.

In other significant decision, cabinet gave its nod for installation of close circuit cameras (CCTVs) in district courts in 20 districts. Cabinet coordination secretary Vandana Dadel briefing about the cabinet decisions said, “For CCTV project in 20 district courts, funds in tune of about Rs 52 crore have been sanctioned by the cabinet. Ranchi, Dhanbad, Chaibasa and Daltonganj courts have already got CCTV vigil.”

Ahead of the upcoming paddy procurement for khariff season this year, cabinet fixed minimum support price of Rs 2050 per quintal for general grade category paddy and Rs 2070 for grade-A category. For the first time, per farmer can now sell up to 200 quintals of paddy from this year.

“This is to enable farmers can sell maximum paddy at government procurement centres. A target of 8 lakh metric quintal procurement target has been fixed this year,” she said.

The state government also decided to free seven iron ore mines from captive use criteria for state owned companies and put them into auction. Dadel said that in August last year, cabinet reserved iron ores for captive use and sent a letter to the union government. “However, union government later on advised that it can only be done if a lessee fails to develop the mines after the auction process. Hence, the government has decided to free them from captive use and put them into auction mode,” she said.

Half-way homes too will come up in the state aimed at rehabilitating such persons who got recovered from mental illness/disability. “In the first phase, three half-way homes, each of 30 bed capacity will come up in Ranchi, Dhanbad and East Singbhum,” said Dadel, adding that rules to shift surrendered naxals under state’s rehabilitation policy to shift in open jail have also been amended.
