Jharkhand schools to finally reopen from this day

Ranchi: Both private and government schools will finally be reopened from February 4 (Friday) in the state, education minister Jagarnnath Mahto said on Wednesday days after the State Disaster Management Department (SDMA) allowed unlocking of education centres, specially the lower sections in the wake of dip in covid-19 cases.

As per the directives, all schools from class 1-12 are permitted to reopen in 17 districts. In remaining seven districts viz. Ranchi, Bokaro, Chatra, East Singbhum, Deoghar, Seraikela, and Simdega, only class 9-12 are allowed.

Addressing reporters at his residence, Mahto said that they will review the situation after some time to take call on seven districts on further reopening of the schools. He said, “After SDMA’s nod standard operating procedures (SOPs) have been issued and now schools can open from February 4. All prescribed covid appropriate precautions need to be followed.”

Demand for school reopening has been on since last few weeks from different quarters citing academic loss to students as majority of junior classes were shut for the last 22 months. On the other hand, private schools however will start reopening from the next week (Monday) as many said that they are currently busy in sanitizing the schools.
