Jharkhand slashes rates of covid testing
Ranchi: Jharkhand government on Thursday announced to further slash the rate of RT-PCR testing of covid-19 samples to Rs 300 per head at private lab and has fixed Rs 100 additional per home visit for collection at home. Earlier, the rates for testing at the lab was Rs 400 and Rs 200 was fixed for home visit. Additional chief secretary of the state health department, Arun Kumar Singh has notified the order in this regard.
This apart, state health department has also slashed rapid antigen testing rate at private hospital to Rs 50 from existing Rs 150.
Officials said that the decision was taken in view of drastic fall in price of ICMR approved kits for testing in open markets that are now priced at Rs 50 only.
Notably, different activists have long been demanding for fall in the prices citing how private labs were also fleecing people by taking Rs 200 per head from people visiting home to collect the sample. Jamshedpur East MLA Saryu Rai too had last week demanding to slash the price by writing a letter to the chief secretary Sukhdev Singh.
