J’khand cops unique drive to pay tributes to Gandhi on his death anniv

Ranchi: Jharkhand police personnel held a blood donation drive in Ranchi on Sunday to mark 74th death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi during which as many as 74 units of blood was collected for the government run blood bank at Rims.

The camp was held at the state police headquarters where top brass of the state police including officials across different ranks stepped ahead for voluntary donation. ADG operations Sanjay Latekar said that the drive was successful. “It was a kind of homage to the father of India on his death anniversary today in which I too participated in the donation drive,” he wrote on twitter.

Meanwhile, different organizations and individuals too held different low-key programmes to pay tributes throughout the day. Governor Ramesh Bais and chief minister Hemant Soren paid homage to Gandhi statue in Tiril.
