Lohardaga: 2 jawans injured in IED blast in Bulbul forests

Ranchi: Two jawans suffered grievous injuries in which one had lost his leg following an IED blast in Bulbul forest in Jharkhand’s Lohardaga district on Friday. Both were air-lifted to Ranchi for better treatment and are currently admitted in Medica hospital. DGP Niraj Sinha and other senior officials rushed to the hospital to take stock of the injured. The injured are identified by police as Narayan Das and Dilip Kumar.

Talking to reporters at hospital, DGP Sinha said that police were conducting operation in Peshrar police station areas for last two-three days to flush out rebels during which the incident occurred. He said that the state police are conducting strategic operations to corner rebel forces.

Another police source said that the incident occurred between 8 and 8.30am when the forces were conducting combing operation. Two jawans stepped on an underground IED which triggered explosion. Police have also recovered several items after demolished several bunkers of the rebels.
