New Year: Hemant calls for self-restrain, Cov review in 1st week of Jan Our

Ranchi: Chief minister Hemant Soren has appealed people to celebrate New Year with caution and decided not to issue any fresh regulations in the state in the wake of increasing cases of Covid-19.

State government will review the situation in the first week of January to take further call after analyzing the overall situation, he said, according to a statement issued by the state IPRD department.

A day after state reported 482 new covid infections, third consecutive days with triple digit spikes in cases, Soren chaired a review meeting along with health minister Banna Gupta at his residential office on Friday.

Top officials of the state administration including health department were also present on the occasion.

After the meeting, Gupta speaking to reporters said, “Officially, we didn’t decide on any fresh regulations but we appeal public to celebrate New Year with caution and also follow all the prescribed covid behavior while in public places.”

Chief minister too has called for restrain at public places such as picnic spots, or at hotels and malls while ringing in New Year asking people to keep in mind the safety of their own self and their families.

In order to arrest the situation of increasing spread, Soren also directed officials to ramp up testing facilities. Currently, state is testing around 35,000 samples on a day. Soren has directed officials to up it till 1 lakh a day. He also asked officials to speed up vaccine coverage by January 15.
