Omicron: 14 cases in Jharkhand
Ranchi: As many as 14 cases of Omicron variant of Sars-Cov2 has been confirmed in Jharkhand on Saturday. This is the first time that the state has got the Omicron variant. State’s additional chief secretary Arun Kumar Singh has confirmed stating that 87 samples were sent for genome sequencing. “We got 14 confirmed Omicron, one Delta and 32 is of variant of concern (VoC),” he said in a message.
Meanwhile, state government also extended the partial lockdown till January 31 as part of which schools, educational institutes, tourist spots, gyms etc will remain closed. Health minister Banna Gupta said that they have maintained status quo on restriction which were first sounded in the first week of January without adding any fresh curbs. State’s current active cases stand at around 33000.
