Pakur road mishap: Now, 16 dead. Rs 1 lakh announced to kin of each deceased

Pakur: State government has announced Rs 1 lakh each to the kin of the 16 deceased in truck-bus collision in Pakur district on Wednesday morning. A Deoghar bound bus from Sahebganj and an LPG truck collided head-on at Paderkola under Amrapara police station around 8 am owing to poor visibility.

Among the deceased, five were women and one minor. They hailed from Dumka (3), Sahebganj (5), Deoghar (2), Pakur (3), West Bengal (1) and addresses of the two couldn’t be traced, informed a communiqué from the Pakur district administration. The collision was so severe that 15 died on the spot while one succumbed at local Sadar hospital. As many as 30 are currently injured of which close to a dozen are serious.

Deputy commissioner Varun Ranjan, who along with senior officials of the district, rushed to the spot said, “Following orders of the state government (chief minister), we have started giving immediately Rs 1 lakh compensation to dependants of all the 16 deceased,” he said.
