Ranchi smart city begins second edition of e-auction of plots


Ranchi: The Ranchi Smart City Corporation Limited (RCCL), a wing of the state urban development department on Saturday began the formal process to initiate second phase of online auction of 42 plots in the upcoming smart city project which is coming up in HEC area of the capital.

The entire project is spanned on about 657 acres of land of which about 287 acres of land, split into plots of different nature, are being auctioned in the phased manner to seek investors to build different infrastructural facilities. In the first phase earlier this year, RCCL auctioned nine plots, it maintained in an official communiqué.

Of the 42 plots on offer in the second phase, officials maintained that they are mainly for commercial, mixed use and institutional purposes. “From October 9 (Saturday), we have begun inviting proposals from the interested parties for taking part in the bidding process. This pre-registration window on our website (https://www.rsccl.in/CitizenPortal-Ranchi/node/1) will be opened till October 17. A pre-bid meeting is on October 28 and online bidding process will be from October 29- November 25,” RCCL said in its statement.  

To woo investors, RCCL also held an investment summit in October 2 in which about 100 people from different industries took park. State urban development department secretary Vinay Kumar Choubey in his address had also announced of their plan to provide 25 acre land at a token amount of Re 1 to top ranking educational institutes of the country to set up their units in this place. Choubey had also told investors that the state government’s vision for the smart city in Ranchi is to make it as a hub for educational and medical facilities.

Ranchi was part of the 100 cities selected by the Government of India under its flagship Smart City Mission programme.  Vice president M Venkaiah Naidu laid the foundation stone for this project in Ranchi in 2017. State government has invested in tune of Rs 800 crore so far to build basic amenities in the smart city site namely roads, command and control centre, power and water connection among others.
