Ranchi: An Indigo flight to Kolkata had to abort takeoff owing to a sudden technical snag forcing the pilot to recourse the aeroplane back to the terminal after racing it on the runway. Ranchi’s Birsa Munda international airport director Vinod Kumar confirmed the developments to media but said all 60 passengers on board are safe and are being put on other connecting flights to their destinations.
Airport sources said that the incident occurred at around 9 am with 60 passengers on board to Kolkata when panic struck them inside the plane due to a heavy sound in the machine.
“Passengers raised alarm after the heavy sound after which the pilot aborted the take-off as precaution. The plane was later cruised back to the terminal after which passengers were deboarded,” said an airport official. An Indigo official added that experts are inspecting the flight to identify the problem.
