State: 1007 Covid cases in a day
Ranchi: Jharkhand breached four-digit mark of daily infections on a single day on Saturday with 1007 cases surfacing in the last 24 hours. As per the covid-19 bulletin issued by the state health department in the night, cases continued to rise in Ranchi with 495 new infections recorded.
East Singhbhum and Dhanbad clocked triple digit mark with 123 and 113 cases respectively. As many as six districts registed two-digit spikes. They include West Singhbhum (53), Bokaro and Hazaribagh (43 each), Koderma (47), Deoghar (20) among others.
This is the first time in many months that the cases touched four digit growth in a single day, making many in the health department believe that the third wave has begun in the state. While no Omicron cases were officially detected so far, but many suspect that the recent growth in daily cases in mass scale indicates that the new variant of the infectious virus has already made its way into Jharkhand.
State government on the other hand is expected to hold a review meet in the first week of January to decide on future course of action.
