State: At sarkar aapke dwar, 70k plus application flood and still counting

Ranchi: Jharkhand government’s sarkar aapke dwar (government at your doorsteps) has evoked roaring response from people going by the number of applications it received from different districts for receiving benefits of various welfare schemes.

Titled as Aapke Adhikar Aapki Sarkar Aapke Dwar—chief minister Hemant Soren launched 45-day mega drive on the occasion of statehood day on November 15 aimed at connecting with masses at the grassroots in run up to two years of completion of his government. The ongoing drive will conclude on December 28, a day before the second anniversary of JMM-Congress-RJD coalition government.

“Within two days of sarkar aapke dwar, more than 70,000 applications have been received across the state for receiving benefits of government schemes. More than 14,695 have been resolved so far. They include departments such as health & nutrition (4809), pension (1499), PDS (1272), livelihood (1289) among others,” a statement from state’s IPRD department has noted on Thursday.

Under this drive, special camps are being held at panchayat levels in every district to hear public woes and solve their problems.

Soren has also urged all elected representatives of the villagers, traditional heads such as manki and munda among others to make the drive successful.  He has also issued a letter addressed to them in local languages seeking their cooperation.

“I would appeal to all of you to come forward and take part in panchayat level camps, motivate people to take part and get benefits of different government schemes,” he said in the letter. “In last two years, a lot of efforts have been made by our government to live up to your expectations. Now the government is coming to your doors to deliver your rights at your doorsteps,” it added.
