Ranchi: Biennial elections for two Rajya Sabha seats in Jharkhand will be held on June 10. Election Commission of India (ECI) on Thursday notified the polls for as many as 57 seats for the upper house in 15 states that are going vacant between June and August.
In Jharkhand, two seats will fall vacant on July 7, 2022 as the terms of Rajya Sabha MPs—Mahesh Poddar and Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi is coming to an end.
As per the ECI announcement, notification for the polls will take place on May 24. Last date of filing nominations is fixed on May 31, scrutiny on June 1, withdrawal of names on June 3 whereas voting will take place on June 10.
ECI has asked chief secretaries to depute a senior officer from the state government to ensure necessary Covid-19 protocols are followed during the polls.
