National honour for two Ranchi nurses for highest covid vaccinations

Ranchi: Fulmani Ekka and Dewanti Nayak — ANMs (auxiliary nurse midwives) from Ranchi received national awards by union health minister Mansukh Mandaviya in Delhi on Tuesday for highest covid-19 vaccination. The day also marked the International Women’s Day. Both the ANMs said that they vaccinated close to 1 lakh people.

After receiving the award, Ekka said that she is associated with covid tikka express (mobile van) to vaccinating people  on the move visiting different places. Nayak on the other hand was posted at Morabadi vaccine site.

“We feel honoured and encouraged after receiving the award,” they said, adding that initially when the vaccination of covid-19 began in Jharkhand last year, they hadn’t thought that they would be able to achieve so many vaccinations.

“It was because people were panicked and not keen to take vaccine. But gradually due to government’s awareness drives and health department’s sustained efforts, vaccine hesitancy got phased out,” they said.
