7 Jharkhand girls make it to national football camp
Ranchi: Seven female footballers of Jharkhand have been selected in final 33 for the national coaching camp for the upcoming FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup to be held in October this year in India. The All India Football Federation informed the Jharkhand Football Association on Saturday ahead of the start of the national camp from today in Jamshedpur. The camp will end on May 31.
Gulam Rabbani, secretary of the state football association said, “It’s a big achievement. We are sure of at least four to five of our girls getting into the national squad. During the recently concluded SAFF games in Jamshedpur, couple of our girls was part of team India while few more had been part of national team in the past. Football too is slowly growing in Jharkhand.”
Those selected are identified as Anjali Kumar, Salina Kumari, Sudha Ankita Tirkey, Astam Oraon, Purnima Kumari, Nitu Linda, and Anita Kumari. Purnima is from Simdega, Astam, Salina and Sudha from Gumla and the rest are from Ranchi.
